Obituary of Natalie R. Rosen

NATALIE RUTH ROSEN “Tolly”

It is with deep sadness that the family of Tolly Rosen announces her passing on February 16, 2020, at the age of 88. Tolly is survived by one sibling, Dr. Jeremy Leichtner of Penfield, NY; her two children, Cheri Rosen Bradley of Gaithersburg, MD and Steven Jeffrey Rosen of Houston, TX; and her two grandchildren, Alicia and Shaina Bradley of Gaithersburg, MD. Tolly was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Harris Rosen. Born in Rochester, NY on September 29, 1931 to the late Joseph and Ida Leichtner, she grew up there and graduated in 1952 from the Rochester Institute of Technology where she studied art and design. As a young bride, she worked for an advertising agency in Norfolk, VA where her husband Arthur was stationed with the U.S. Navy. Over the years they resided in Schenectady and Huntington, NY where Tolly continued painting and her profession in commercial advertising. Widowed in 1984, Tolly moved back to her hometown and found her last artistic assignment doing illustrations for Living Wall Garden Company in Naples, NY. In retirement, Tolly gave in to her longheld passion for antiques and over the next 30 years meticulously assembled treasured collections of Victoriana. Being surrounded by these lovely finds gave her great joy and pleasure. She will forever be remembered, missed and loved.

At her request, no public service was held. In lieu of flowers, tribute gifts for the Rochester Memorial Art Gallery may be made in her memory and directed to “Tribute Fund” at MAG’s address: 500 University Avenue, Rochester, NY 14607.
