I’m going to miss my birthday card and call every year. I’m going to miss the one through whom I could experience the love and connection to her family – my mother’s family. I’m going to miss visiting her because I always felt a very special bond, part of something special – a family, no – the Stiller Family. Seabreeze; Parkway Family Restaurant; she taught me how to ride a bike; Carhart & McGee’s Magic Casements poetry book my mom had in East High School, loved, and which Sylvia gifted her in 1949, which I still enjoy not just the words but even more so the provenance. With her passing I lose a deep and powerful living connection – her love, my mother, my childhood, part of me. “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. From an Irish headstone”

SO saddened to hear about Sylvia. SHe used to read me stories when onxtIFT Carthage Drive . SHe and my sister Dottie were best friends as we lived next door. The last number of years we would pick her up and go for lunch and then to CHarlotte for CUSTARDS whenever Dottie came to Roch. for a visit. I remember them talking about going for CHOC CREAM PIE when they were young and working downtown. She was such fun to be with and always interested in what everyone else was doing and how they were.

My sincere condolences to Sue, Sharon and family. I’m so glad I got a chance to see her last week when Sharon was on a panel for women’s rights. She will always in my memories from elementary school to activities in our community. Always a smile on her face. May she rest in peace

I am so sad to hear about Sylvia’s passing. While I was her rabbi, I was very close to her. She was someone VERY special!! To me, to her friends and to our Temple Beth David Community. She truly did live her life simply. She always clipped articles or cartoons she thought I would like. And she would carefully place them in an envelope and give them to me whenever she attended one of my classesat shul. May her soul be bound up in the bonds of everlasting life. And May her memory be for a blessing, always. Love, Rabbi Smookler ( a huge Sylvia fan❤️)
