Obituary of Richard D. Sanow

Passed away peacefully on July 6, 2020, at the age of 93. Richard is predeceased by his parents, Jesse and Ida Sanow; brothers, Melvin & Junior “Harvey” Sanow; sister, Georgia Port. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Nadia (Cholach) Sanow; sons, Yuri (Rachel) Sanow and Taras Sanow; sister, Lois Widom; several nieces & nephews and their spouses and children.

Richard, a military veteran, was a Supervisor at the Rochester branch of the Social Security Administration for over 30 years. Mr. Sanow also officiated high school and college football, baseball, and basketball for over 30 years, as well as at the Maccabi games in Israel. Richard coached baseball and soccer teams in Brighton and was a member of the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame of Greater Rochester.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private burial has been held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard’s name to JCC of Rochester Men’s Health Club, 1200 Edgewood Avenue, Rochester, New York 14618 [LINK].
