Obituary of Joy Ann Starr

Joy Ann Starr Passed away on September 19, 2012 at age 86. Predeceased by her parents, Ralph & Dora Reva Cohn, husband, Irv Starr & sisters, Rita Korenstein & Shirley Brodows. Joy will always be cherished as a loving mom & grandma by her three children & their spouses: Andy (Dr. Joan Flender) Starr, Eileen (Lynn) Bisha & Donna (David Snaith) Starr; her nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren: Tad (Anneke) and daughters, Sophie & Iris; Jim (Jen), Daniel, Tracy, David (Sarah) & daughter, Lilah; Kyler, Katie, Jon & Autumn. Joy leaves a legacy of commitment to family, hard work & community service. A graduate of the U of R (1947) in Economics, she worked side by side with her husband Irv in real estate. Joy also was a dedicated volunteer in Girl Scouting for over 30 years as troop leader, leader trainer, coordinator of council-wide camping & eventually as vice president of the local Board of Directors. Other organizations blessed by Joy's talents to quietly motivate & inspire include the PTA, Jr. Great Books & Boy Scouts. Joy was a giving soul. She will be remembered as a kind and generous person who always had time for someone in need.Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at 1 PM in the Benjamin Goldstein Chapel of Temple B'rith Kodesh (2131 Elmwood Ave.).
