Obituary of Bernard Levison

Bernard "Bernie,” "Ben" Levison On January 4, 2006, at age 83. Born in Cleveland, OH to Harry & Yetta Levison. Predeceased by his brother, Hyman and sister, Esther Diamond. Survived by his Son, Murray (Margaret Ong) of Davis, CA Grandchildren, Kyle & Austin Spiller and Drew Teufel Brother, Alfred (Rosalind) Several nieces, nephews and cousins and many dear friends and satisfied customers. Bernie moved to Rochester in 1947 and owned Hyre's Shoe Store on Dewey Ave. with his brother Hy for several years. To supplement his income, he started working part-time at Don & Bob's at Sea Breeze in 1950, staying until 1955. In 1993, he began working at Don's Original at Sea Breeze, the successor to Don & Bob's. More than 50 years later, in 2002, Bernie punched the clock at the Sea Breeze store one last time. Bernie was best known for the fish markets he owned. He started on Joseph Ave. in 1955 at Center Fish Market, which he owned at several locations until 1990. He bought Price's Sea Foods on N. Goodman St., and moved the business to Twelve Corners in Brighton in 1972. During his run, he also owned Oretz's Fish Market on Monroe Ave. Since "retiring," Bernie worked for Yerger Florist and Precision Dental, and delivered for Meals On Wheels. He also was active with a senior group at B'rith Kodesh and with the Brighton Theatre Guild, and wrote many letters to the Editor. Funeral Service will be held Sunday, January 8, 2006 at 1 PM at Temple B'rith Kodesh (2131 Elmwood Ave.). Interment, Britton Road Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Aaron D.
