Although Erika & I only had the pleasure of being with Mildred on a few occasions, her sense of style and grace always shown through. She joked and laughed with me about her age, and how my 93 year old mother at the time was a mere kid compared to herself. She was enormously devoted to Eli, and I can still recall her concern when he had become ill just prior to Melissa and Sam's wedding in 1997. She was a strong woman, and we will certainly miss her.

Having never had a grandmother of my own, Grandma Mildred was the only grandmother I ever knew. I was fortunate to become her granddaughter through my marriage to her grandson, Andrew. Her grace, style and sense of humor will be treasured forever. She was everything anyone could have wanted in a grandmother and so much more. She was strong and loyal and generous - such a model to the many grandchildren and great grandchildren she leaves behind. Her love for and dedication to Eli was remarkable and I'm comforted knowing they are now resting peacefully together. We'll miss you, Grandma Mildred.

This picture is exactly how I remember the Sokols. Whenever I saw them at Irondequoit or in the community, I thought they were truly the most gracious and dapper couple I'd met. I also marveled at Mrs. Sokol's ability to walk with such poise and dignity in her highest of heels and narrowest of dresses. She was a lovely lady. So many of us will miss her charm and her beautiful collection of dresses. Sending warm regards to your entire family.

Tom and I have wonderful memories of Eli and Mildred at The University Club. We hosted many black tie holiday dinners in the Sokol Library. Mildred and Eli were always dressed to the nines! Tom also remembers playing gin rummy with Mildred during Board of Director meetings. She was a sharp player. Our dear friends are now together. Diana Lauria and Tom Koziol

I am so sad to read of Mildreds passing. I spoke with her the day before we left for Florida. She was a true LADY and now is with her true love Eli. Rest in peace Mildred. Fondly: Lynda and David Newman

Visitation

No visitation

Service Info

service will be held at Temple B’rith Kodesh, 2131 Elmwood Ave., Sunday, February 12, 2011 at 1 PM, during which family and friends are invited to share their memories of Mildred. A reception will follow at the Del Monte Lodge.

Interment

Private entombment will be at White Haven Memorial Park, Oakwood Court Building.There will be no visitation.
