On October 16, 2011. Predeceased by his brother, Ben Averbach; granddaughter, Robyn Best. Survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Irene; children, Sally (Ken) Cleveland of Denver, CO, Marsha (John) Best, David Averbach of Las Vegas, NV & Gail (Tom) Marlowe; grandchildren, Leah (Gerry) McCullar of Denver, CO, Barry (Karen) Cleveland of Las Cruces, NM & Adam Marlowe; great granddaughter, Genevieve Rose McCullar of Denver, CO; brother, Harold (Amy) Averbach of Costa Mesa, CA; many nieces & nephews. A Veteran of WWII, Philip graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School (1941) and the Missouri School of Mines. He was past president of the PTA at #40 School, John Marshall High School & the Maplewood Association; Past board member at Temple B'rith Kodesh; Past Master of the Flower City Masonic Lodge; Past Grand Lodge Officer with the NYS Masons; Past President, Masonic Bowling League; Past commander of the Jewish War Veterans (Kaufmann Post) & a retiree of Eastman Kodak. Funeral services will be held, WEDNESDAY, 1:30 PM in the Benjamin Goldstein Chapel at Temple B'rith Kodesh (2131 Elmwood Ave).Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery. Family will receive friends, WEDNESDAY, 4:30-7:30 PM at 5 Winding Country Lane, 14559. Donations may be directed to Camp Good Days and Special Times in his memory.
