Isadore Diamond
Died peacefully at the Rochester Jewish Home on Tuesday, November 22, 2011.
He was born on December 4, 1918 in Rochester, NY to Simon Diamond and Esther Klebanoff Diamond.
He graduated from Washington High School and served as a Signalman in the United States Navy during World War II.
Izzy was a well known and highly regarded Rochester businessman who co-founded Bunnington Corporation now known as Arnold Magnetic Technologies. Mr. Diamond served as Chairman until 1997 when he retired.
Known for his deep commitment to Zionism, supporting the State of Israel, and his support of the Rochester Jewish community, Isadore was generous and worked tirelessly on behalf of causes he believed in. He loved family and took a genuine interest in each person, no matter their age. Izzy was a talented artist, had a deep appreciation and love of classical and Yiddish music, and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play. He is especially beloved for his sweetness, kindness, and deep respect of others.
Izzy is predeceased by his first wife, Rebecca “Bunny” Stein of 41 years and by his second wife of 21 years, Veda Forman Rubin, his sister, Molly Pierce, and his brother-in-law Joseph Zipkin. He is survived by his loving sons, Daniel (Karen) Diamond, Joel Diamond and Saul Diamond; by loving step children, David (Melanie Grey) Rubin, Andrew (Jodi) Rubin and Michael (Jill) Rubin; grandchildren: Lauren (Mark) Williams, Amy (Marc) Conforte, Adam and Eric Rubin, Alissa, Jared, and Meredith Rubin; great grandchild, Zachary Williams; and siblings: Morris (Shirley) Diamond, Sylvia Zipkin, Neddy (Seymour) Vigman, and Shirley (Graham) Baldwin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Jewish Home -6 S/W and Lifetime Care Hospice for the love & care provided to Izzy.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 10 AM at Brighton Memorial Chapel, Inc. (3325 Winton Road South). Internment, Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Following the funeral, a period of mourning will be observed at the home of Mr.& Mrs. Glenn Bishop, 6 Pritchard Ct., Fairport, NY, Tuesday from 7-9 PM, Wednesday & Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
