I always looked forward to Mr. Kessler's daily trips around the office to say hello and to catch up with all of his staff. Without even realizing it he touch us so much not only by his example of compassion, respect and professionalism but with the way he lived his life.
My deepest of sympathies to you for the most honorable man I ever had the pleasure of knowing.

I served with Irv for many years on the VLSP Board. Irv always showed up with his extraordinary combination of compassion, grace, warmth and wisdom. It was an honor to serve with him and a privilege to know him.

I will never forget the big things: the honor it has always been to tell people I was a partner with Irv, and that he would periodically tell me he was proud of me if I won a motion. Even more, I will remember the little things: giving him the pro tennis report if matches were on a channel he didn't have and discussing how he and I were both one of 4 boys and that I have 4 boys also.

Those of us at Volunteer Legal Services Project who knew Irv best were energized by his warmth and professionalism. He exemplified the very best of the legal profession by working on behalf of those who could not afford access to the courts for basic needs. He always volunteered to take cases and make calls for Campaign for Justice. I will miss him. Sheila Gaddis

Irv was that extraordinary rarity of a true gentleman of great intellect with a giving and gracious heart. He always had time for people and cared deeply for his family and his community. He was a constant example of what a lawyer could and should be. He will be missed by so many.

I have had the pleasure of working with Irv professionally for over 20 years. His kindness and consideration,
his ear for detail, the love and loyalty of his long-time clients, was a pleasure to witness. Always dapper in his
jacket and bow tie, Irv was a fixture of downtown Rochester, a friendly reminder that we should never be too busy
to make the effort to be polite; to take the time to pause, smile, and say hello to each other.

I knew Irv from playing tennis with him at Midtown. I was always impressed that he was such a real gentelman and enjoyed opportunities to play tennis with him. It was a sad day when he decided to quit playing tennis with our group, and it is sad news to hear of his passing, but I feel blest for having had the chance to spend many Wednesday evenings on the court with him.

I met Irv when I joined a league at Midtown Tennis Club in the early 1990s. I always enjoyed playing with him and liked his sense of humor.

While he was not my biological "Uncle," he was and always will be my "Uncle Irv."
One of the greatest of men. He would drive me to High School almost every day on his way to work. He would show movies at a Hospital for children each week. Only the Holy One knows all his great deeds, for they were numerous and he was a humble man. I am deeply indebted to the example he set. And I believe there are many more whose lives were enhanced because they knew him. What a great loss. My prayers and thoughts to all of the family and all those that grieve. He is one in a billion.

Having know Irv since the early 1950's when our families were involved in the formation on Temple Beth David, I have always had the utmost respect for him. The accolades in his bio from his law firm say it best. My condolences to his nephews and nieces, whom most I know personally. He will be missed by all.
