Mac was a fine and gentle man. Mac and Evelyn played cards every week with my late husband, Bill for many years. We very much enjoyed meeting with them at their lake home. Those were the days!

My deepest condolences to Mac's family. Like Fred Infantino, I too have fond memories from growing up with Mac's sons. A huge lasting impression was from the time Mac took Barry and me in his nearly new Mercury to our first concert to see Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and the Big Bopper when we were only 9 years old (1957). Memories are wonderful things to share and I wish you all many fond ones of Mac!

My sympathies and condolences. I'm the son of Mac's cousin Rachael Chait. Mac and Evelyn were at my Bar Mitzvah in Baltimore in 1956. The last time I saw him was at one of Darlene Chait Seils' children's b'nai mitzvah in the 1990's. May he rest in peace. And may you find comfort and strength in your time of loss.

I had the privilege and honor to take care of Mac. The past three years has been an experience that has made me grow on so many different levels. Mac told me many, many, many war stories, tips on how to start my own business, of course the stock market and so much more. In the beginning Mac did not like me because I did not know how to cook his eggs. I had to take lessons from Alice and that soon passed. As Mac’s condition deteriorated he still remained the same, always offering something to eat, checking the stock market every day. There are some regrets I have. I regret I did not meet Ev. I regret I did not meet the Gan family much earlier in life. What I regret the most is that I did not have more time with Mac.
To the family, my deepest and heartfelt sympathy for the passing of one of the greatest men I know. May God be with you all on the next phase of your lives.

My husband Joel has had the priviledge to have worked for the Gan family for almost 25 years. First for Mac's brother, Harry. Then for Mac and Ken at Mac's II where he still enjoys employment.
I myself, have had the priviledge over those 25 years to have met Mac and Evelyn's acquaintance at several holiday get togethers, company picnics etc. I remember them as being very warm and welcoming at those get togethers. Mac always showed a genuine concern for my husband and our family as a whole.
Through my husband's stories of Mac's dedication to his family and his business, I came to respect Mac as a savvy businessman as well as a dedicated, loving family man.
My sincerest sympathies go out to Ken, Colleen and the entire Gan family. I honor Mac's life's accomplishments and my memory of his kindness, compassion and generosity for my husband and our family.

I will remember Uncle Mac for his love of family, his generosity and for eating onion sandwiches. But most of all I will remember him for his sense of humor. One of my favorite stories is of Uncle Mac, with a twinkle in his eyes, telling my son (who was five at the time) that he did not hear very well out of his ears. He instructed my son to talk into his nose which he proceeded to do, as we all roared. Rest in peace Uncle Mac. Sending my heartfelt condolences to the entire "Gan Clan" and much love to you all.

To my Cousins:
All of us in Florida are sorry for your loss and send our condolences.
Although our adult lives have had a wide gap, I will always carry the memories of our families enjoying life, whether it was celebrating and observing holidays, days at the lake, or just generally growing up together.
I will always remember and be grateful to Uncle Mac for teaching me the more 'colorful' aspects of the English language on Saturday afternoons at the Garage! There isn't a day that goes by that I dont use those lessons to their fullest.
Seriously, perhaps my fondest memory will be from the Bar Mitzvah in California just a few years ago, when Mac, Harry and Gordy all sat together reminiscing about the old days, while we all sat in awe and listened. I think that we can all agree that evening discussion is a priceless moment.
Our prayers and thoughts are with you all,
The Kotzin's of Orlando

To Barry, Doug, Jeff and Ken, I wish to send my deepest sympathies on the passing of your wonderful father. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of Mac and Evelyn Gan and activities on Van Voorhis Ave. My own beloved mother passed away on September 27 and, like you, I am without my two guiding lights. May he have everlasting peace, reunited with your dear mother, and may you find the strength to carry on at this very difficult time. With great sorrow on your loss, Fred Infantino

Just wanted you to know that my family is thinking of you all at this time. Your parents were both such wonderful people. They were such close friends with my parents. My Mother and father loved them and thought of the "Club" as family. They had so much fun over the years. I have wonderful memories of the "Club" having picnics at Durand Eastman Park. I'll never forget when your father flew down to Lancaster, PA in his plane to pick me up and bring back to Rochester. It was the smallest plane that I ever flew in...and your Dad got a kick out of teasing me about being scarred. I hope your memories help you through your loss.
