Bertha leaves her nieces and nephews Nancy Tesser, Patricia Karn, Debbie Adduci, Susan Bohen, Ann Coughlin, Ed Nast, Rich Nast and their spouses and children.
Bertha will be remembered for her loving kindness to her family, friends and community and as a spirited and compassionate woman. At a recent celebration of her 100 years, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins remembered the laughter and joy she brought to their lives.
Bertha was very proud of her parents, Ida and Ben Koren, Russian Jewish immigrants who came to this country in 1905. She spoke about their virtues and tried to emulate their values. She often remarked that her parents were hard working people who valued honesty, generosity, love, education, and especially good family times together. While raising a family, Bertha volunteered in local organizations including: the Boy and Girl Scout organizations, the Irondequoit Parent/Teacher's Association, the Red Cross Foundation, Congregation B'rith Kodesh Sisterhood, the Jewish Home of Rochester, and the National Council for Jewish Women. A special thanks for Rabbi Sandra Katz for her good work and her loving kindness. The family wishes to thank the nurses, aides, social workers and hospice on 3 North East for their loving care, and the art and physical therapists for enriching the lives of the residents.
