Obituary of Grace Golden
October 29, 2011. Predeceased by her husband Abe; survived by her children Elissa Werner (Chris), Judi Cohen (Milt) of Rochester and Jonathan Golden (Susan) of Akron, OH; grandchildren, Rachel Justice (Larry), Alexis, Joshua, Jordan, Arielle and Matthew. Survived by her sister Joyce Cherwin (Roy) of Santa Rosa, CA.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of 6 SW of the Jewish Home of Rochester for their compassionate and loving care for the last 6 years.
Born in the Bronx, she came to Rochester in 1949 and completed her Mechanical Engineering degree in 1951. During WWII, she worked as a draftsman for the Signal Corps. When her youngest child started school, she became active in the League of Women Voters. She served on the Greece Environmental Board from 1971 to 1980 where she helped plan and build the Nature Trail at Braddock Bay. She then became a faculty member at RIT teaching engineering graphics from 1977 to 1984. During those years she helped organize the first RIT chapter of the Society of Women Engineers.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, 11AM at Brighton Memorial Chapel (3325 Winton Rd. S.) Family and Friends are invited to share happy memories on Sunday, 1-4PM at 118 Palmerston Rd. in Brighton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Jewish Home of Rochester, Planned Parenthood or the Alzheimers Association.
