Obituary of Norma Harary

Norma Harary It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Norma on September 8 in New York City. Preceded in death by her devoted husband, Dr. Zohar Harary. She was the loving, supportive mother of Oren (Yael) and Ronit Fahl (Romeo); the adoring and doting grandmother (Bubbie) of Zachary; the sister of Joan Soggot of Jerusalem; and many nieces and nephews. Born in Sabie, South Africa, the dearly loved daughter of the late Miriam and Sidney Friedmann, she graduated from the University of Witswatersrand in Johannesburg and received a PhD in neurochemistry from the University of Rochester. She worked for many years at the University of Rochester Medical Center’s Division of Developmental Pediatrics, a job she considered her “dream job.” Committed to Jewish and Israeli causes, she was a keen follower of politics and pursued many other passions in life, including gardening, antiques, art, and sports. She considered herself fortunate to have longtime, cherished friends by her side. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at 11 AM at Temple Beth El (139 Winton Road S.
