What can I say. I met Ira in the early 1980's when he came to the Apple II user group. He aways said he didn't know much about computers and he came to learn from others at the meetings. While there is some truth to that, he was a very fast learner and very enterprising. I remember a pet project of his to ""clone"" the apple disk drive. He spent around 1.5 years on this project, building a darkroom so he could etch his boards, sending away for specialized parts and much more. One day he came to our meeting with a big grin. He had gotten the drive to spin! He was elated. Later I believe he got the drive working using some foreign parts, but then found he could get a drive from China for much cheaper. So he went into the business of selling floppy disk drives. He also was at one time the largest dealer of Floppy disks in the USA! Ira was a good friend, he came to a meeting at my house once a mounth for around 15-20 years and we shared lots of good times. I will miss him, but will remember the good times we had.
