Obituary of Sala Biren

Sala Biren (Rosenberg) Brighton: August 29, 2008. Predeceased by her husband, Nathan & son-in-law, Donald T. Hiller. Survived by her daughter, Nancy Hiller; son, Sheldon (Cheryl) Biren; grandchildren, Monica (Hiller) and Heath Gebell, Aaron and Staci Hiller, Zachary Biren; great granddaughters, Logan & Nora Hiller. Sala was born in Lodz, Poland. She was the only member of her immediate family to survive the Holocaust. Sala demonstrated the true meaning of "survivor" and was an inspiration to her family. Hers was the heart & soul of what the lyrics describe in the song "My Yiddisha Mamma". Her roast chicken & potatoes, soup & kreplech and all the wonderful "yonif" meals that were so lovingly made will forever be missed.
