Obituary of Irving E. Germanow

Irving E. Germanow Pittsford: December 1, 2009 at age 87. Predeceased by his parents, Harry and Minnie Germanow; brothers, Leon & Norman; and granddaughter, Tara Carder Germanow. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Essie; devoted children, Andy (Jacquie) Germanow, Sally (Steve) Smith of Glenwood Springs, CO, John (Ann) Germanow; grandchildren, Abner (Patty) & Lesley Germanow, Shanti (Theron) Burgess, Justin (Kathy) Smith, Gabe & Jesse Germanow, Ricky, Evan & Sophie Beckerman, great-grandchildren, Oscar & Morgan Germanow and Isla Burgess; sister-in-law, Marcia Germanow; and many nieces and nephews. Irving graduated in 1939 from Monroe High School and served in the US Navy. He later became President of Germanow-Simon, a manufacturing business co-founded by his father. He was Past President of the JCC during the transition from the city to the Brighton campus. He was a member of Temple Beth El, Holimont Ski Club and Irondequoit CC where he was 4-time club champion. He served on the Board of Trustees for St. John Fisher College as well as the JCC and was active and supportive of many local causes and organizations throughout Rochester and the Jewish community. A Private Graveside Service will be held at White Haven Memorial Park. Irving's Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 4, 2009 at 1:30 PM in the Main Sanctuary of Temple Beth El (139 Winton Road S.). Click here for directions to Beth El.
