Obituary of Jonathan B. Angelone

Jonathan B. Angelone At age 19, surrounded by his devoted and loving family and after an unfathomable and courageous battle with cancer, Jonathan won eternal life on November 13, 2006. He is survived by his adoring mother, Julie Angelone beloved grandparents Mary, Hank and Sue Angelone Uncle Henry and cousins Nicholas and Alexandre Angelone Aunt Kathie Angelone and cousin Katie Phillips Uncle Frank Angelone Aunt Sheila Angelone Uncle Jeff and Aunt Shelley Coke and cousins Max, Claire, Henry and Avery Uncle Chris Coke Doris, Jeanine, Sean, Arianna and Jordan Brooks special friends: the FL – Christin John, Ryan Hall, Myke Garcia and Jon Kole Ron and Katie Sereika, Kiwi, Julia, Courtney and Cri and many extended family members, friends and acquaintances Jonathan, who approached life with an almost unsettling innocence and optimism, cherished life and the people he met, knew and loved. Never without a smile whether running down the football field or singing on stage, he was genuinely happy in everything he did he especially loved his school years spent at Brighton High School and Northeastern University. As a multi talented young man, he was never without a day packed with activities. He played soccer for ten years primarily with the Rochester Football Club and the Greece Eclipse played football at Brighton High School achieving co-MVP his senior year, ran track at Brighton High School setting a school record in the 4x4 in 2004, played Brighton High Basketball and Lacrosse, was a member of the talented student run a-cappella group - the Crazy Pitches, performed in countless theatrical performances performing leading roles which included the voice of Audrey II in Little Shop of Horrors and Lancelot in Camelot. Jonathan was also Vice President of the Brighton High Student Council, and a four year member of Mountain Bound Adventure club. But it would be a spiritual trip to Israel in 2000 and then as a devoted and loving counselor volunteering at the Muscular Dystrophy camp for several years that made the biggest impact on his life. Shortly before his passing, he told his mother, “I had a wonderful life and could not have asked for more.” Funeral Services were held privately in the Beth El Section of White Haven Memorial Park on November 14, 2006. A Memorial Service to celebrate Jonathan’s life will be held on Friday, November 24, 2006 at 1 PM in the auditorium of Brighton High School, 1150 Winton Road S. Map to Brighton High School. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the “Just Be Aware” - Jonathan B. Angelone Foundation P.O. Box 93057 Rochester, New York 14692 This foundation was established by Jonathan while he was ill after being misdiagnosed for two and a half years. His cancer is 90-95% curable when caught in stage one. It was his express wish that the mission of this foundation be about “People helping People…Just Be Aware,” a mission that will promote practices and knowledge sharing that aid in the early detection of cancers especially among teens and young adults.
